Former urbs of Roman province Mesia (Moesia) is situated 11km west of town Zaječar in the valley of river Timok. Today it is famous archeological site in Balkans. It is the birth as well as the burial place of Roman imperator Gaius Galerius (293-311) so this excavation site is one of the small number of monuments of Roman court architecture (besides Diocletian's palace in Split and one less known palace in Sicily).

Remains of late classical and byzantium period with outer defense wall and 20 cylindrical towers make this complex. Special value have well preserved floor mosaics simillar to those in Pompei.
